Long-Lasting UV Protection for Exterior Vertical Wood

Osmo UV Protection Oil is a high-performance exterior oil designed to protect vertical wooden surfaces against UV damage and weathering.

Formulated with natural plant oils, it penetrates deeply into the timber to create a durable, microporous surface that allows the wood to breathe. Unlike conventional film-forming coatings, it will not crack, peel or flake over time.

This specialist exterior finish significantly slows down the greying process caused by UV exposure while enhancing the natural beauty of the timber.

Important: This product is designed for external vertical surfaces only. It is not suitable for decking or horizontal walking surfaces.

Ideal for cladding, façades, screens, pergolas, timber frames, doors, windows and exterior joinery.

410 vs 420 – What’s the Difference?

410 UV Protection Oil – No Biocides
Provides UV protection and water resistance. Ideal for well-ventilated vertical surfaces where additional protection against algae and fungal growth is not required.

420 UV Protection Oil – With Biocides
Contains active ingredients to help protect against algae, mould and fungal growth. Recommended for areas exposed to higher moisture levels, shaded elevations, coastal environments or limited airflow.

In simple terms:
410 protects against UV.
420 protects against UV plus biological growth.

Coverage & Application

• Coverage: Approx. 18–24m² per litre per coat (depending on timber)

• Recommended application: 2 thin coats on bare wood

• Drying time: Approx. 12 hours between coats

• Apply to clean, dry and frost-free timber

For maintenance, simply clean the surface and apply a refresher coat as required — no full stripping necessary.

Important Application Note

Osmo UV Protection Oil is suitable for external vertical surfaces only.
It is not suitable for decking or horizontal surfaces exposed to standing water.
