Clear, Microporous Protection for Exposed End Grain
Osmo End Grain Sealing Wax 5735 has been specifically developed to protect the most vulnerable part of any timber — the exposed end grain and cut edges. These raw ends absorb moisture far faster than the surface of the board, and are where cracking, swelling and discolouration typically begin. This clear, breathable wax seals those ends against water while allowing the wood to breathe, reducing the risk of swelling and shrinkage as timber weathers.
Ideal for freshly cut decking boards, fence posts, cladding, garden furniture and any raw timber edge, the wax soaks in and cures to an invisible finish that does not obscure the grain. It does not crack, peel, flake or blister, and once dry it is completely safe for humans, animals and plants.

Coverage
- Coverage: Approximately 5m² per litre (two coats)
- Surface: Apply only to clean, dry and frost-free timber with a maximum moisture content of 20%
- Method: Apply generously to end grains and edges using an Osmo Flat Brush or a lint-free cloth
- Coats: Two coats recommended — apply wet-in-wet, or allow the first coat to dry before applying the second (guide: approx. 150ml/m² first coat, 50ml/m² second coat)
- Drying: Touch-dry in 3–4 hours; allow up to 12 hours for a full cure
- Temperature: Best applied between +10°C and +35°C
- Maintenance: Re-coat with a single coat whenever wear becomes visible
Fresh timber containing natural wood extracts should be allowed to weather before application. Do not thin — the product is ready to use straight from the tin.
